I quit, I just can’t take it anymore
Episode: VMC #137 – I quit, I just can’t take it anymore
It has been a great ride… but I can’t go on like this.
People around me just don’t get it. They don’t get the value and the passion I put in my work, in my life, in my career, no matter what…
- no matter how much time I spend telling brands about the importance of being present or at least listening to what’s going on in this digital landscape
- no matter how many blog posts I publish to share my experience or showcase successful stories about who actually made it
- no matter how many episodes I will release on my media channel trying to rise the awareness on the fact that today communication is probably more important than ever… they just don’t get it.
They prefer watching, listening, sitting and waiting that things will change or will get better thanks to magic beans or free sliced water melons. In this social media era the world seems to be suddenly full of experts that unfortunately in the end just turn out to be carpetbaggers.
I know that it’s tough to deal with ‘traditional minds‘ but I’m sorry I simply can’t ‘lose my life’ on this…
I quit, I just can’t take it any more.
A special thanks goes to the ‘few‘ that believed in me for real and that saw potential in my ideas. I wish to all of you to make it through these tough times we are living in.

@Bernie: It makes sense to me
Andrea,
It’s about time. You really didn’t add much value to the conversation and we are better off with your departure.
Good riddance.
Joseph
PS Considering it’s April 1st, please ignore the above message as I will ignore yours
@Joseph: Ok I will ignore… hehh
Happy April fools day to you too Andrea!
Thanks Marko same to you!
Take care whatever happens man.
Do it for you and no other. you are an early adopter of so many things.
The rest of the world is just a bit slow..
Peace man.
Christian
@Christian: Agree, being a pioneer is not an easy job… but it’s easier when you have a good group of friends that makes you understand that you are on the right path.
Thanks Christian!
Don’t loose faith – it’s difficult – short-term changes are smaller and long-term changes bigger than we expect. History always repeats itself. 30 years ago I tried to fight on behalf of personal computers, 25 years ago for LAN’s, nearly 20 years ago for internet, today it’s the same with some other new innovations.
@Jaska: Thanks for stopping by.
One thing is sure, I’ll never give up
damn you Marko.. you ruined the joke..
Hmmm… When reading these comments, either people are just playing along or I didn’t.
NO chance. i aint falling for that!
@Phil: I know that it wouldn’t have been easy to make you fall… I tried
Wicked sense of humour
Keep at it, Andrea!
@Neville: Appreciated mate
Great job and great post! I really believed in you (also today..).
What a relief to read the previous comments.
@Pirjo: Kiitos!
If only I hadn’t tasted your passion for things in Berlin I might actually have fallen for this.
Good to see you are still at it!
Arne
@Arne: You know the way I am… Let’s hope to meet-up in London for the latest project!
Andrea, it’s right, there is LIFE after April 1’st.
Have a great day. It’s sunny in Loviisa. Living on the sunny side of the Social Media Street.
Br
Helge
@Helge: “Living on the sunny side of the Social Media Street”… love it!
Let’s stay tuned for the ‘Finnish projects’…
I hear you, man.
@Erkka: I keep thinking about the new potential podcast with you, me and Hessu…we should do a little bit more of brainstorming and then get the things going…
Keep in touch as usual!
Andrea, you can’t quit… you’re fired!
(sorry you did not get the memo).
@Mitch: No… I’m not like Julien that doesn’t seem to notice memos..especially the ones sent by Google about the latest ‘behavior tracking’ etc. (referring to Media Hacks
)
So I guess that I need ’six pixels of separation’ on how to get fired as a CEO or something like that.. Do you think you could drop them in the next episode of SPOS? (hehhh
)
Ahaha Andrea!! Happy April Fool!
@Dario: Grazie, un buon pesce d’Aprile anche a te!
What’s going on mate?
I hope you’re kidding!
@Francesco: Yes it is, you know that I have a thick skin
Hope U’ll get back to biz at 2.4.
On the other hand, your writing *could* make much sense in the atmosphere of Finland.
@Kari AKA nethunt: Agree, it’s an everyday challenge…but I’m used to it! Hope to see you soon again!
Yeah, I know how you feel! We all feel like this sometimes and wish we could just throw it all away. And it must have felt good to speak it all out.
But of course we wouldn’t quit it all!
So Happy April Fool (to you and Rick Astley) from me too!
@Annette: I was thinking to change my hair style and make more… ‘Ricky’! What do you think?

Oh man!! Why…oh why!! Why the heck you suddenly started having a life…you should have stayed with the net man. Haven’t you heard about the Wingman and all new and exiting things we are about to face in the near future? Dude..you have to think about the bright side…you are such a Rickroller…man!
Take care!
@Hessu: Good to hear from you! Hey we should jump back to the new podcast idea we discussed with Erkka!
Yes!! We should.. It has been once again soooooo busy. But still…we should.
You have the distinction of being the first person to rickroll me and that’s not an April Fool’s joke. Thank goodness it’s April Fool’s ’cause we’d miss you! Have a great one.
Cheers,
Eden
@Eden: Thanks! + let’s really hope to meet-up next time!
Oh no!
And on the first day of a bright new month, too!
Oh man, I was totally shocked for a while even if I know that a person as passionate as you would never give up like that so I’m happy it was just a joke, a good joke indeed!
Keep up the good work Andrea!!
Saara
I’m glad it’s April Fools’ Day!
Keep on truckin’, Andrea.
Cheers,
Donna
Dear Andrea, that was the kind of 1st of April fool joke that I’m not used to. Especially when I first just watched the video without voice. Anyway, after a phone call with Sakari and the second watch with voice and comments I got the relief. You are almost too good actor…
I know you want us to beg you not to go. But To be honest, with you outshining the rest of us all the time, it will be good to have you out of the way. I want my chance to shine!
Thanks for the April Fool’s joke! I love it!
And really, no I don’t want you to go!!!!
Cheers,
Connie

Greetings from San Francisco! (Let’s see what happens now when California is going to separate itself from the USA…)
*snicker*
Nicely done
When I got the message pointing me here, I asked myself “Who is Andrea Vascellari? Should I concern myself with this?”. So I am relieved to learn that you are really Rick Astley and you’re sticking around, because I could never give you up.
OMG!!! I was going to have a heart attack!!! I was already thinking that this financial crisis stuff was starting to cause a really bad things to ALL the people around..

I’m sorry man but the digital divide here is still a problem!!
huge hug and go on with your projects
OMG Andrea,
I was almost going to pen off this heart felt letter on knowing the frustrations of balancing all the responsibilities of life around you while finding the time to engage in social media conversations and content creation online.
One of the most amazing things about you is that spirit of passion and life you have and I was almost heartbroken to think that took a huge blow….thankfully not.
You got me good (and I am sure others) for April Fool’s with your own personal take on the Rick Roll. Thanks and here’s to you never giving up!
