The Power of a Smarter Web
Tim O’Reilly: “Web 2.0 is never intended to be a version number, it was really a reflection of what happened after the dot-com bust”
@Tim: you made me smile when you said this.
This time I couldn’t make it to San Francisco but I was hoping that Tim could have start his keynote exactly like he did. Why? Well let’s say to set things clear.
I thought about Tim’s keynote this morning during a meeting I had for a project I’m working on with iTive. We are planning the digital strategy for the development of an entire Finnish region (2010-2013).
- No, it’s not an easy task (but I love challenges
) - Yes, this is why I couldn’t come to SF for the Expo
During today’s meeting I was thinking about (and realizing once again…):
- How important is the role of today’s decision makers: Especially when we are dealing with development of large communities, decisions must be taken carefully and wisely.
- The power of a smart web: Today not everyone is web savvy, but we must also say that the web is becoming smarter and that soon people with low level (non-geek) of understanding of the digital space will have the chance to step in, join and become active part of big changes in our society. How? For example through the use of new and ‘easier’ technology that on both sides, applications and devices, will enable a larger audience to have a closer relationship with the digital landscape.
We are already living in a ’sensors era’ and we are seeing the early days of a web that, like Tim said last week, is not going to be driven by people typing on keyboards.
I think Tim’s presentation is a very good conversation started so I thought to share it here with you. If you are interested in more presentations from the recent Web 2.0 Expo (San Francisco) I suggest you go and check out some of the recorded session on the O’Reilly Media Channel.
Enjoy it!
Andrea
@Tim: Thanks…
