The Mix Behind Success

Share

How can you stand on the top step of the podium in today’s business environment? The first thing you need is the right mix. A combo of different flavors mixed at best. Behind wonderful products, excellent services, great projects and outstanding individuals there’s always a great mix of factors.

If you are not sleeping in an academic bubble you probably already realized that the 4 P’s (Product, Place, Price and Promotion) of a classic marketing mix are not enough. Not anymore and not simply because the 4ps model doesn’t take into account who is actually targeting, consumers, but because in this twenty-first century ecosystem the number of variables that we need to consider in order to satisfy that audience is everyday bigger and more complex.

New models and concepts are emerging. You just need to check Joseph Jaffe’s 6 C’s of marketing (content, commerce, community, context, customization, and conversation) or have a look at the endless David Armano’s ‘Visual Thinking’ archive to sense the change that characterize the times we are living in.

Same story for all the players on the field. The best individuals I worked with, beside a proactive nature and committed outlook, were people in posses of an incredible mix of skills. At personal level you can imagine your skills as prism faces. The more faces you/your prism has the better you/it will roll in adverse and fast paced environments. Entrepreneurs, managers, executives, freelancers, all of you… How can you survive if your bag of skills is not wide enough to help you going through tough moments in ‘no mercy lands’ AKA markets ruled by an increasing competitiveness on all fronts? You simply can’t.
