My new business cards (BTW Do we still need them?)

After the 2.0 version, here are the new iTive cards. The idea came up to my mind when I was thinking “With a good online presence… do we still need business cards?” . Yes maybe, for who’s not working in the digital world, business cards might still be a pretty handy tool but… I’m sure you got the picture

But one other thing… it did make me think you worked for Google. Not sure what to do about that or if it really matters.

You are right about the Google thing… I thought the same when we were preparing them. The problem is that the cards are so small and it was a bit difficult to understand what was written on them if the Google part was too small (each manager has a custom-back with their name on the Google search field
). For this reason we decided to add the iTive logo next to it in order to remind that is not about Google.
But again I agree on that and I’ll keep it in mind for the next version. Thanks for the feedback Kathy!

I still like to collect and manage business cards. They give me something to do with my hands while thinking, and give some visual context to who I met and when.
Actually I glue them on an sheet, so the reverse sides get lost…

I never really thought about what people were doing with my card after I gave it to them…I thought they were taking note of the info needed etc. but I would have never imagined that you could have glued it on a sheet!

and I think there still is a need and will be as long as we are not technically so developed that some data is transferred automatically and electronically. you if we met in the real world the first time and wanted to stay in contact just by telling each other our names… well… good luck, right? so it will be there for some while… but maybe someone comes up with an solution for mobile phones maybe… a standard and easy solution.

What I do often is to send a digital card via bluetooth from my Nokia so people receive all my contact info directly in their phones. Usually it’s handy so they don’t have to retype everything on their laptops…they just need to synchronize the mobile with their ‘address book’
When I was in Germany you mentioned a tool that could/can capture the info on the business card thanks to the isight cam on Macs. Which was the name of that tool?

I am not sure actually. I know my my SE p990 can do that. and sure oyu can send vcards, but honestly… I think that is pretty … well.. not nice

it should be a one click solution that works with every phone without having to set up bt or ir or so. I somehow find cards still much more convenient.
Sony Ericsson P990 is a good device too!

My earlier comment didn’t seem to post, but it was something like:
* I LOVE your cards! Both the idea and look and feel
* If the front part is true, then the back isn’t necessary…
Or perhaps in a later version, you shorten the back data and add a hand-written annotation something like, “If wifi is down:”

I really like the design and the idea of encouraging people to search your information on Google. Anyhow, I would like to see your URL on the backside. I mean the URL of this site.
Oh, and exchanging business cards is still a nice way of getting connected.

Few ‘business cards ago’ I used the normal URL but then I started to share my RSS feeds so it was easier for people either to subscribe or get to my blog.
